Check Your Thermostat Settings
When your furnace is not working correctly, it may be as easy as checking your thermostat settings. Check your thermostat to ensure it is on; sometimes, your thermostat will return to default settings after a power outage.
Once it is back on, set the fan to “auto.” Once set to “auto,” your system should begin working correctly again. If you are still having trouble getting your furnace on, give us a call for a reliable college station tune-up.
It May Be Time to Change Your Air Filter
The air filter on your furnace allows clean air to flow into your system and release hot air. When this filter becomes clogged, it is hard for fresh air to enter the system. Without proper airflow, your furnace will overheat, causing it to shut off.
Open up your furnace and ensure your air filter is clean and clear of debris. If it is dirty, change your filter according to your systems manual. If your furnace is still not turning on after changing your filter, give us a call for a trusted college station furnace repair.
Make Sure Your Furnace is Getting Power
It is sometimes common for something to bump against the furnace and turn off the system accidentally. There is usually a switch in the back. If you see it set to on, but nothing is happening, you may need to switch the power on from the breaker box in your home.
Go to your circuit box and check the panel for a switch that says furnace or heater. Turn the button off and back on. Give your furnace a few minutes to heat back up, and it should start to work correctly. Some of the panels may be hard to read, or your system may still not work; if so, you can skip this step and call us to help.
Schedule a Furnace Inspection
If the above troubleshooting tips did not help, it might be time to schedule a furnace inspection. To keep your system healthy for longer, we recommend you get one every year. If you need any further assistance we are here to help you!
